Is it just me or?
by Sassy init just dawned on me today that this board is not full of desperate women for men.
all the years i was on jw boards, it was crawling with sisters who were desperate for finding a man.
used to drive me crazy... all of a sudden i noticed today that it isn't like that here.. .

Sal, it's funny but things were much more shallow in the dubs. I noticed some of the ugliest blokes getting pretty little trophy wives so long as they had a job or were the sons of elders.
My dad (an elder) even went so far as to encourage me to come back to the dubs because I would easily pull a good looking wife

Is it ok for a man and a woman to live with each other wihout being wed
by fearnotruth22 in.
sometimes it may not be possible to get married for a lot of reasons so is it ok for a man and a woman just to live with each other?

well I got married in september after living with Clare for 2 years. The reason we got married now was two fold - 1) we want to emigrate to Australia and it's easier if we are married and 2) we are going to start a family and i personally think it gives the kids a bit more stability.
I've been in 2 long term relationships where I lived with women for 5 years each and we didn't feel the need to formalise things, today it's only as important as you make it.
It is only a piece of paper, but that piece of paper represents a promise you made to a person you love. A promise to stick by them through all the shit, to share all the good stuff and to be there when you both get old and wrinkly. The promise is what is worth something, not the bit of paper. Sod the 'in the presence of god' crap, it's all about that moment when you promise to stand by your other half come what may.

Most dangerous has to be jumping out of a perfectly good plane, although it was for charity, and there was this one time when a freidn took me on his new motorbike round the bypass in Swindon and pointed frantically at the speedo for me to look as we were doing over 150. I think I shat myself more than the skydiving

You Knew The Score!
by Englishman inmany years after i was df'd, i found myself at the end of a shunning campaign led by a robotic jw neighbour.. the neighbour had moved in next door to me.
he'd even borrowed some tools of mine before he discovered that i was an ex.
at this point he began a serious "i'm ignoring you" strategy which i found utterly hilarious as he was the one who had chosen to move in next door to me.

I was 16 when I was dunked and fully knew the score. I also knew i would be caught out and df'd before too long although I did have the courtesy to stop smoking for the two weeks before my baptism. As it happened it was two years before I got to the point where I didn't care any more and handed them my dfing on a plate when I met my first real girlfriend.
Was I mature enough to make the decision, probably. Did I actually dedicate myself, no. Was I doing it for show, obviously.

Is it possible to stay friends?
by Fe2O3Girl ini am no longer in touch with anyone i've had a relationship with in the past.. there was one man that i stayed friends with long after i had got over the relationship.
however, the "staying friends" stuff dragged out the process of getting over the breakup to painful lengths.
the friendship lasted as long as he needed a mate in the area to pass an evening with when he was around here, and someone to fill out the numbers and buy a present when he got married.

Ths short answer is no, actually the long answer is no too.
I was with someone for 5 years when I decided that enough was enough and I left. I hurt her alot and compounded it by staying friends with her and swinging between shall we / shan't we get back together. In the end staying in touch made it harder for both of us to move on and we both hurt other people because of this.
The final nail in the coffin was me meeting someone very special who I am now married to and I am not in contact at all with my ex.
My wife on the other hand is still in contact with her long term ex who is now married with a kid, thing is he is in Holland and not living a mile away from us like my ex. I think if there is real distance between you then you can keep in touch and remain civil without emotion complicating things too much. Real friendship with someone you once loved is impossible because at the back of your mind you will always gauge your current relationship against the old, and tend to forget the negative aspects of the old relationship.

Were we different?
by Fe2O3Girl inwhen we reminisce about our lives as jws, we keep coming back to some themes.
it seems like most of us have had some or all of these experiences:.
faking field service time reports.

we are the same.
People are still flooding out for the same reasons and kids brought up as witnesses still don't stay.
My sister has just left home due to abusive parenting and my step brother will no doubt leave within 2 years. 13 years have passed since I have left and nothing has changed

There are loads of .net jobs over here at the moment, I keep getting calls from agencies despite not being interested in going back to being a code monkey.
Things look like they are picking up, so good luck

I am currently oncall for the first time in 3 years and Mrs SLH is particularly ill. I've slept a grand total of 13 hours in 4 days and am rapidly developing a caffiene fetish

Top 10 Signs Your Religion Is Dying.
by SYN inyour leadership is a bit dodgy.
for starters, theyre all so close to deaths door that he has repeatedly asked them to stop loitering and just ring the bell.
theyre so old and wizened that they have a hearse on 24-hour standby.

that was hilarious.
What is even funnier is that someone can be deluded enough to think the dubs will reach 12 million in 3 years. I left 12 years ago and they were at 6 million then. Is it me or does it seem that it would be something of a flight of fancy for there to be less than a million net growth in 13 years to jump 6 million in 3 years?
We want more budgies!
